NOTAVIVA FARM BREWERY & WINERY

Notaviva Farm Brewery & Winery is a family-owned vineyard and brewery located on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Hillsboro, Virginia. Founded in 2008 by Stephen and Shannon Mackey as Notaviva Vineyards, the farm was built around a unique idea: pairing handcrafted beverages with the emotions and experiences created by music.

The Mackeys—both former audio engineers—combined their passion for music and hospitality to create a one-of-a-kind destination where wine, beer, cider, and seltzer are inspired by musical genres and songs. The name “Notaviva” reflects this vision, blending the Italian words nota (music note) and viva (with life) to capture the powerful emotional connection people feel when hearing their favorite music.

Nestled among scenic farmland and mountain views in western Loudoun County, the farm produces small-batch beverages crafted with care and attention to the land. Vineyard work is done largely by hand—from pruning and training the vines to harvesting the grapes—while hops grown on the property are used in select craft beers brewed on-site.

In 2019, the farm expanded its offerings by adding Notaviva Brewing, creating one of the few destinations in Northern Virginia where guests can enjoy wine, beer, cider, and seltzer all in one place. Today, visitors gather at the farm to relax, enjoy live music, attend events, and take in the views while experiencing the unique harmony between agriculture, craft beverages, and creativity.

Blending artistry, farming, and hospitality, Notaviva continues to offer a welcoming space where music, community, and handcrafted beverages come together to create memorable experiences.
